Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park has the least number of trails and visitors of the three state parks within Redwoods National Park. It also has less old growth redwoods as much of them were cut for lumber during the early 1900’s. The land became protected in 1925 but it was too late. Some old growth still remain but much is second growth, a much younger tree.
The redwoods here are the closest to the coast. The California Coastal Trail passes through and many of the park trails are well maintained. Del Norte does not have its own visitor center. Information can be obtained at the Crescent City Redwoods Visitor Center.
