Observation Point

Observation Point sits atop 6500 foot high Mt. Baldy. Few people ever refer to the Mesa by its given name and just say Observation Point. This hike starts from the Weeping Rock trail head on the canyon floor. There is signage directing you to hike up the East Rim Trail. About two miles up, the trail splits with the East Rim Trail turning right and the Observation Point trail turning left. Continue up the ramp system, fully exposed to the cliffs edge. However the trail is very wide and easy to hike. The only difficulty is the steep grade.

Once atop the Mesa you still have a hike to the point which is a little discouraging after such a steep hike. When you arrive at the point you are treated with great views of Zion Canyon. On the right you can look down on Angels Landing and see the Three Patriarch in the distance.
It is a difficult but rewarding hike of 8 miles round trip. Bring plenty of water, more than you think you need. The trail is fully exposed to the sun and in summer it is brutally hot. At least three to four liters is recommended. The trail is well maintained so you can hike this with light hiking shoes.
