Directions:<\/span><\/p>\n

Drive west on US route 70 from Green River.\u00a0 After about 16 miles, at mile marker 147, there is a dirt turn off.\u00a0 Go down to the gate and open.\u00a0 After driving through, be sure to close the gate again.\u00a0 The access road to the trail head is the first left turn off this main dirt road.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Petroglyph Canyon is located in to the northern section of San Rafael Swell (north of US 70).\u00a0 The trail head is at the mouth of a dry wash in a shaded area, rare for this area.\u00a0 From the parking area, there are two trails.\u00a0 The one straight into a vegetated area is a dead end.\u00a0 Follow the trail to the left, that parallels the cliffs of San Rafael Swell ( this is the same trail to reach Double Arch Canyon).\u00a0 The trail will gradually round a corner and enter a dry wash.\u00a0 Cross the wash and ascend a steep hill with the wash on the right.\u00a0 The trail traverse above the wash until it makes a right turn back toward the wash.\u00a0 Keep left, turning into a open box canyon.\u00a0 You will not have to travel far into this canyon.\u00a0 Look to the right for the Manganese stained sandstone wall, the petroglphs are located here.\u00a0 Return the way you came.<\/h4>\n
