I hiked the 3.9 mile section from the intersection with the Black Mesa Trail to the Second Water Trail. This 3.9 mile section is mostly flat. I was happy I chose this as the final section of a loop hike. The trail is fully exposed to the sun but later in the day, the surrounding hill provide some shade as the sun begins to set.
