Romer-Pleasant-Cross Traverse
Catskills State Park, New York

This route traverses three mountains within Slide Mountain Wilderness follow the Phoenicia – East Branch Trail (blue markers).  The trailhead is just outside of Phoenicia and has parking for about 5 vehicle if parked closely together.  Walk past the kiosk at the trailhead and continue to the park service register box.  Be sure to sign in with your destination and number in your party.  About .25 miles more there is a sign directing a way to a natural spring.

The trail is steep and climbs to the top of Romer Mountain after 3.2 miles.  There is no views along the way and the top is difficult to identify other than some glacial erratics.  Continue another 1.9 miles through the forest to Mt. Pleasant.  The trail does not pass over the top but does make way to the only view point on this route, looking west at Panther Mountain.

As the trail descends Mt. Pleasant, it becomes a little overgrown.  It is another 1.65 miles to the top of Cross Mountain however, there is no difinitive marker identifying the true summit other than using GPS.  Return the way you came in back to the trailhead.
