XANADU TRAIL
Wenatchee National Forest, WA

The Xanadu loop is a popular mountain bike trail when done in a counter-clockwise direction.  This loop can be hiked best in a clockwise direction so you can see mountain bikers if they are coming downhill fast.  There is only space for two cars at the entrance going clockwise or you can drive up Derby Canyon road for 2 miles and park where you leave the forest road.  Either way, you have to walk the dirt road to complete the loop.

From the first pullout and hiking in a clockwise direction, enter the forest through some brush.  This can be a little difficult to find as there is no trailhead marker.  The trail is steep and has many switchbacks for the first 2 miles because this is primarily a mountain bike trail.  The forest eventually thins out after climbing a steep slick rock section.  After that point you gain the main ridge and you are treated to great views in all directions.

After 3.3 miles you reach Forest road RD 7403 and the highest point on this hike.  Turn right and follow the double track forest road for 2 miles where it ends at Derby Canyon road.  Turn right on Derby Canyon road and walk the dirt road back to the trailhead.
