BROKEN ARCH
Arches National Park, Utah

This hike starts from the trailhead of Sand Dune Arch.  It is a highly visited area and parking can be difficult.  Expect a lot of people at the start.  From the parking area, follow the trail up a sandy alcove until you reach the arch on the left.  This arch is named for the deep sand that accumulates under and in front of the arch.  Return a short distance to a side trail that crosses open desert with a beautiful sandstone skyline.

Follow the trail across the desert until you reach a sign that directs you left to the Devils Garden campground or right, to Broken Arch.  Turn right and follow the well defined path to Broken Arch.  The trail passes through Broken Arch and continues on the other side.  Follow the trail until you see signs for Tapestry Arch.  This is a side trail that is easily follow to some slick rock.  Once you reach the slick rock, you will see Tapestry Arch which is in front of a sandstone cliff formation.

Return back to the loop and turn right.  This will lead you to the Devils Garden campground.  The trail exits on a paved road next to a campground toilet (seasonal running water).  Turn left on the paved road.  This feeds into a small loop road.  Stay left of the loop and you will reach signage leading back into the desert.  This section passes through some unique sandstone features until you complete the loop. Turn right on the trail back to Sand Dune Arch and the parking area.
