DRAK YERPA
Lhasa, Tibet

Drak Yerpa is located about 30 kilometers northeast of Lhasa and makes for a nice day trip from the city.  Drak Yerpa is a series of meditation caves set in the hillside of rock outcroppings overlooking the Yerpa Valley.  There is also a small monastery but the main attraction is the meditation caves.  The caves are natural but not really deep, more like an alcove that has a wall over the front of each.  Inside the caves are various paintings and Buddhas.  A stone pathway connects the different caves which are on different levels along the hillside.

After exploring the caves, take time to walk the Kora.
