Potala Kora

Like any other Kora, this one circumnavigates the Potala. Many locals and pilgrims walk or prostrate the Kora daily. Walking in a clockwise direction, people start from either front corner of the Potala. Continue until you reach where you started. In total it is about one mile long with many prayer wheels along the way. I like to spin the prayer wheel which should also be turned in a clockwise direction.  I turned so many my arm actually got tired and I had to stop.  But I kept walking the Kora. Spinning the prayer wheels is not a requirement.  This is a great Kora to observe the pilgrims in this sacred ritual.  As you walk across the front of the Potala, you will also see many pilgrims prostrating.
